"The world is now in hand pent"
It
is now a widely used phrase in the world. Another popular word is “Smartâ€,
Smart TV, Smart Mobile, Smart watch…etc.
The question is which makes the world smart and
fetches it in hand pent?
The answer is simply “Electronic Technologyâ€.
Remarkable advances in
electronic technology over the last few decades have created this smart world. The use of
electronics technology in combination with computer and telecommunication technology
is making the world smallest. Its widespread use has no boundary now. In a word
its uses are from kitchen to satellites. Hence to meet the demand for smart
world, the demand for electronics technologists at home and abroad are smartly
increasing and will continue to grow. As
a result, the education of electronics technology is transforming into a highly
functional education from skilled technician to design engineer. It is
the application of scientific theories and principles in the design, production,
installation, testing, service, use, and control of electrical and electronic
parts, equipment and systems. It is used across all industries, including
commercial, residential, and industrial. Technologists normally work as members
of "engineering teams" in applied design, product development,
installation, maintenance, manufacturing, production, or operations. Graduates
may also work in technical services including field engineering, customer
support, marketing, and sales and work in a wide variety of industries
including manufacturing, utilities, and telecommunications.
At Cumilla Polytechnic Institute,
Diploma in Electronics Technology is introduced at 1995 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board
(BTEB), Agargaon, Dhaka. The BTEB developed the curriculum of Electronics
Technology very time-appropriately. The Diploma in Electronics Technology
program is a sequence of courses, consists of eight semesters including one
semester industrial attachment, designed to prepare students for entry-level
positions as electronic engineer. Learning opportunities develop academic,
technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition,
retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of electronic
theory and practical applications necessary for successful employment. Program
graduates are to be competent in the general areas of communications, math, and
interpersonal relations. In this brief message, I wish to introduce the
Department of Electronics Technology and its dedicated and scholar faculty
members, students, officers, laboratory assistants and technical and other
staff in carrying out our various activities in achieving our program
educational objectives and goals of the department.
We have no shortage of efforts to produce professionally qualified diploma engineers in
electronics to meet up the challenges of the 21st century and to fulfill both
national and international demand of diploma graduates by providing the quality
education. We are proud of our students that they are achieving recognition in
national and international competitions and job markets in the country and at
abroad as well. The Electronics Department also encourages various extra- and
co-curricular activities and organizes study tours, industrial visits,
seminars, workshops etc. on regular basis.
As the Chief
Instructor and Head of the Department of the Electronics Department, I am lucky
enough to work with an excellent group of individuals who have common goals and
commitments to improve teaching activities, to cut through the frontiers of
Electronic Engineering fields to benefit the nation, the society and the
mankind at large.
